The end of civilization didn't start with the death of the trees. It started with their uprising. One day, all things green and glorious began to riot, seeds springing up from cracks in sidewalks, branches ripping down power lines, ivy snaking across the pavement to tear down factories and credit data centres and government buildings. They grew quicker than anything we'd ever seen. They had to. They'd given up on waiting for us to figure out what needed to be done.
