We had built so many apps, installed so many front-and-back lenses, taken so many selfies, planted cameras in every fridge and baby monitor, every car and laptop, every gas station and corner store. By the time the power plants went silent and the humming wires that connected our lives were drained of their last electrons, we were excited to learn how to smile again without a camera watching.
