They said the haunted mansion would be inherited by the first person to spend a night inside its walls without being driven mad by its many ghosts. One evening I let myself in and went through room by room, finishing the business of lost spirits and driving out angry entities with burnt herbs and salt circles. As the sun came up and I stood alone in its great, empty halls, I realized I could not stay a moment longer, nor claim my prize. Because what good is a haunted mansion without any ghosts?
