We will never forget them, the Suited Ones. Everything that we have, everything that we do, even what we breathe is thanks to them. They did it all, with scant help from us. There are few enough of us now, but there are none of them, not here. They shaped the future, and they left us. But we remember them. We study them. Our artisans and tailors make pilgrimages to the Shrine of Suits to learn all they can. Indeed, if the Suited Ones ever return, they will find us in three-piece suits of our own, with starched shirts and dress shoes, silver cufflinks and linen ties. We will be in charge. And that will suit us just fine. Jason Taniguchi is, appropriately enough, the author of Jason Taniguchi’s Very Sensible Stories and Poems for Grown Persons (KQP/ChiZine Publications). He is also, perhaps even more appropriately, Jason Taniguchi himself: that is to say, the actual embodiment of the person who is living the experiences of Jason Taniguchi. He is the husband of Jason Taniguchi’s wife and the father of Jason Taniguchi’s two children.
